What is Coaching?

In order to make progress in any area of our lives we need to know which direction we want to be heading in.  Its no good if a boat has no engine and doesn't set it's sails as it will simply drift in any direction the wind takes it until it hits an obstacle; at which point it will stay in the same place forever serving no purpose other than for the birds to roost upon.  Or worse, it will be broken by the elements, shattered into fragments of driftwood, flotsam of little use to anybody, not even the birds.
 
Coaching can give you the support you need to get yourself moving in the right direction so that you can start to live the life you want.
 
Affording my clients the opportunity to have a safe place without fear of passing on information to other third parties is critical to forging the essential supporting relationship - one of trustI do not discuss work with individual clients or disclose information about them with/to anyone unless they have given consent and/or unless one of the following conditions apply:
 
  • When information regarding an act of terrorism is disclosed.
  • When a client is intending to cause physical harm to self or others (life or death situation).
  • If there is a disclosure or I suspect that a child could be suffering or is at risk of suffering from any form of abuse. (Child Protection/Safeguarding).

 

If any of the above circumstances apply I may have to tell an appropriate third party.

 
Why Coaching?
Are you one of those people who knows what they want, get started on a project, but never seem to be able to complete the task at hand?
 
Do you know that you want to do something different but can't seem to take the plunge and make that first move?
 
Do you seem to be spinning so many plates that you know you're not giving any one area enough time to ensure that things get done properly with the right amount of attention?

 What Coaching is not


At the initial intake session (which is complimentary) it will be established whether or not coaching is right for you. 

 

Coaching is not the same as Counseling or Psychotherapy.  In a coaching session you will not be asked to discuss the finer details of your past and how you got to be the person you are today.

 

Coaching is also different from other disciplines such as Consulting and Mentoring.

 

Coaching can be useful however, to those who have completed therapy or training and want to continue to improve or maintain standards which might otherwise decline over time.
